Beautifully nestled in a quiet section of land just outside of Oneonta, is Canaan Acres wedding venue. Between the beautiful lofted barn, outdoor garden ceremony area, and customization options, the venue should definitely be on your list of tours if you are looking for an elegantly simple venue that is away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Birmingham.
One of the best things about Canaan Acres as a wedding venue is it’s adaptability to different sizes of weddings and the customization to how you want your wedding day to look. When first arriving at the venue, the first thing one notices is The Barn with its grand sliding doors, multiple chandeliers, and reclaimed wood from the 19th century. Centered within the barn is a functioning vintage church bell, with a loft walkway that connects the private bride and groom suites. Aside from the grandeur, further beauty is found in the barn is with the versatility of the space. While chandeliers and opened doors provide options for either cozy or ambient lighting for any ceremony, there is also the option of adding drapery, string lights, or extended flower arrangements to really customize the space.
Directly behind The Barn is Sophie’s Garden, wherein a hillside and stone pathway leads to a gorgeous ceremony area surrounded with hardwoods, soft greenery, the barn backdrop while being headlined with a rustic cross beneath an iron gazebo (perfect for running flower arches across). As a bonus, The Barn at Canaan Acres can also serve as a backup ceremony location in case of inclement weather! Capacity for accommodations range around 250 guest depending on customizations to the reception area and needed area for catering and other vendors.
Typical investment of having Canaan Acres as your wedding venue ranges from $3,200-$4,800, depending on date and number of outside guest. Canaan Acres also offers catering options which can scale from simple to the most exquisite plating options for your guest depending on your preferences, as the owners Tyler and Aly Mock have over 20 years of experience in the culinary industry. Alongside offering in-house catering options, outside catering vendors are also welcome.
From first visiting Canaan Acres, it is evident that this venue abounds in charm, coziness, and the utmost in hospitality. From the customization options of the grounds in how you would like your wedding day, to the kindness of the owners and staff, it is evident that this charming venue is focused on making wedding days as seamless and stress free as possible. Multiple reviews from couples who have gotten married there mention the kindness, professionalism, and willingness of the owners to go the extra mile.
Between the lush greenery, rustic natural wood barn, and elegant garden area, Canaan Acres has no shortage of beautiful places to have your wedding photos taken. As a wedding photographer, I personally love the natural charm of the venue along with the ample fields and rolling hills to serve as a backdrop on wedding days. Also ample bonus points to having The Barn as a backup ceremony location if your main plan is Sophie’s Garden, because while I enjoy the natural beauty of rainy weddings as the next person, having a backup plan is always essential to eliminating worries and being present on your wedding day. Being away from the traffic and noise of the Birmingham, one of the things that came to my mind upon my very first visit was the serenity of quietness of the location. It reminded me of home back on the farm before I moved to the city.
My son and daughter-in-law were married here in the Fall of 2022. You cannot ask for better hospitality. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely recommend them to others!
