After selecting your date, choosing a venue is one of the first (and most important) steps in planning your wedding. As we were planning our own wedding, we learned that choosing the location where we would say our vows to each other was both exciting and overwhelming. Along the way, I’ve learned that so many of my couples have felt the same, which is why I created this guide to some of my favorite wedding venues. There are so many amazing wedding venues (along with the individuals who operate them) located in the greater Birmingham area, including everything from rustic outdoor plantations to elegant indoor estates.
While this list isn’t exhaustive, I hope it gives you just a few ideas of the amazing places to celebrate your wedding! If there is a venue that you’d like to see listed or would like to know any specifics, comment below or contact me.
Without further ado, let’s begin!
Birmingham Botanical Gardens
Being one of the first places we visited when we first moved to Birmingham, the Botanical Gardens is one of my personal favorite spots to take day-trips to, go for walks, and admire the beauty that is so clear in viewing nature. From the conservatory and rose garden to the bamboo forest, there is no shortage of variety for a wedding venue!
From the chandeliers and 19th century barn wood to the ceremony space of an outdoor garden surrounded with lush greenery, this venue in Oneonta has such a quiet charm that it is definitely a must consider venue for your wedding! Swann Lake Stables
Located in the Birmingham suburb of Cahaba Heights, Swann Lake is a beautiful equestrian stable turned full-time wedding venue! Running right along the Little Cahaba River, there is also a built in stone patio that overlooks the river, and as such is one of my favorite features of the venue!

If a bright modern farmhouses is your dream home, then this very well may be your favorite venue yet! Family owned and operated in Ohatchee, the grounds of Oak Meadow are so lovely for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies! I literally don’t think there is anywhere that isn’t photo worthy.
The Glass House
Breathtaking. In a word, that’s all I have to say. Located in Skyline, Alabama, The Glass House is just that, a glass house, and yet also is so much more. Bright natural light meets white paint and stone walkways to create a truly one of a kind venue experience.
Red Gates at Kelly Creek
If barn weddings are your thing, this may be your venue! Located in Odenville, this beautiful barn venue offers the similar charm of most barn venues, while also offering multiple places for outdoor ceremonies.
Camelot Manor
To describe Camelot Manor, think fairy tale meets royalty with some southern charm sprinkled in, all while only being 30 minutes from downtown Birmingham . This venue in Westover is lovely with the white picket fences, grand columns, and beautiful front porch area, and is sure to please any couple looking who has fairytale dreams for their wedding day!
The Sonnet House
Originally built as a farmhouse in 1918, The Sonnet House venue sits on 19 acres in Leeds Alabama. While there are many farmhouses in the Birmingham area, there is just something so quaint and original about this venue that brings me back.
Windwood Equestrian
Located in Pelham, Windwood is one of the premier Equestrian venues and facilities in the area. With it’s lovely stables and arenas, there is no shortage of beautiful backdrops and natural areas to make you wedding day one to remember, whether you are a horse person or not!
